You’ve told us for years how life-changing your Amizade experiences have been, and now we finally have the data to fully understand. Our latest student evaluations have demonstrated that students who take part in our service-learning courses are having truly unique, empowering, and transformative experiences. Upon completion of their courses, over 80% of participants reported having learned more, or much more during their Amizade service-learning course than they do on their home campuses. Further, 94% of students reported that they are better able to apply the knowledge gained from their Amizade experience to the real world than the knowledge gained from a traditional class on their home campus. These are truly achievements that everyone in the Amizade community can be proud of, yet they don’t even begin to express just how transformative Amizadeprogramming can be.

Beyond the individual volunteer experience, Amizade strives to empower the communities we work with around the world. In the past year alone, Amizade volunteers helped complete construction of a massive 300,000 liter water tank in Tanzania, ran an at-risk youth summer camp in Jamaica, and organized a college-prep course in the Navajo Nation. These wonderful accomplishments don’t even begin to consider the long-lasting impacts of new global friendships that have been forged through Amizade partnerships.
