Trinidad & Tobago
Environmental & Cultural Diversity in the Caribbean
Amizade has worked in Matelot, Trinidad and Tobago since 2011, and in Port of Spain and the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine since 2016.
From urban and industrial Port of Spain to rural Matelot and Matura, participants will experience a major metropolitan city full of music, restaurants, and museums as well as Trinidad’s beaches, forests, and waterfalls. Participants will learn more about Trinidad and Tobago’s unique multicultural history and communities and explore it’s African, East Indian, and Amerindian background. Finally, you can spend time on Tobago’s pristine beaches and experience a quieter life on the island.
Through Amizade’s community partnerships, participants will hear directly from those impacted by environmental changes as well as those working to maintain their cultural heritage in rapidly changing environments.
Trinidad offers short-term programs around Port of Spain, Matura, and Matelot, and, a semester program at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine (UWI St. Augustine).
