Arabic Language, Human Rights, and Islam.
Tetouan, Morocco has served as a point of connection between Morocco and Adalusia, Spain from the 8th century onward. This multicultural town is known for its history of religious tolerance and connections to Roman, Andalusian and European cultures.
Through our partnership with Dar Loughat, Amizade participants delve deep into Moroccan culture and everyday life. Intensive Arabic courses, homestay placements, and coursework relating to Islamic concepts of human rights help students think critically about the region.
The Amizade summer program integrates participants into Dar Loughat’s coursework, with Arabic course offerings from beginner to advanced. Amizade and Dar Loughat also support short-term programming in Tetouan, with opportunities for Arabic-language coursework or explorations of the region more broadly.
