WVU in Williamson

WVU in Williamson | May 19 -21, 2024

Students will travel to Williamson, WV as part of this service learning program. We will participate in community driven service projects (8-10 hours), meet with local healthcare workers to hear about initiatives in the community, learn about local Diabetes outreach, and spend time with local citizens. The program includes cultural and recreational activities such as hiking, exercise courses, and community bonfires.

The time that you spend in Mingo County will be filled with many new experiences: new outlooks, new cultures, and new situations.  Therefore, the experience is enhanced by looking at some of the things that have been written in relation to the county and the issues over the last several years, getting a rough idea of what’s happening, and going with an informed set of questions in mind. The program is about getting in deep enough to begin to understand an entirely different kind of place.
