Amizade's Summer "Volunteer Vacations" Announced

Join one of Amizade’s open group volunteer programs this spring or summer — make a difference working on a community project, explore the countryside and customs of a new place, and build lasting friendships across cultures.

Bolivia: July 18 – August 1, 2009; or September 19 – October 3, 2009. Work side-by-side with Quecha people improving their rural community outside the city of Cochabamna; learn about local life and culture in the breathtaking Andes Mountains. The $1,340 fee includes food and lodging; local educational, cultural, and recreational activities; local transportation; and a local site director.

Tanzania: May 9 – May 29, 2009. Experience the rugged beauty of mountainous northwest Tanzania; cooperate with local efforts to develop a transitional children’s home for youths affected by the AIDs epidemic; learn how dynamic local organizations are mobilizing family and community networks to support these children in the future. The $2, 306 fee includes food and lodging; local educational, cultural, and recreational activities; local transportation; and a local site director.

Navajo Nation: Aug 1 – Aug 10, 2009. Learn about Navajo life and culture, explore stunning natural sites, work on community-led service projects that include repairing community facilities and tutoring school children. The $1,058 fee includes food and lodging; local educational, cultural, and educational activities; and a local site director.
