Introducing Amizade alumni programs!

You served and learned with us before: maybe you traveled once, twice, or three times, spent a semester in an Amizade community, or maybe you experienced a virtual program and you’re ready for a hands on experience. No matter how you became an Amizade alum, you’re invited to join us this summer for another opportunity to travel.

Check out the programs below that are open to Amizade alumni only.

BOLIVIA | JULY 16-23, 2022

This program will take place in and around Cochabamba, Bolivia’s third-largest city, encircled by the breathtaking Andes Mountains. Located in a highland plateau, Cochabamba boasts a perfect climate with a daytime seasonal average of 72 F with no humidity. As a bustling city of over 600,000 people, Cochabamba is home to many beautiful plazas, fountains, churches, and the largest open-air market in the Americas. The primary service component of the program will be to assist a rural community outside of Cochabamba with the construction of school classrooms and buildings.

PROGRAM FEE

Per person program fee: $1,585

The program costs are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Please speak with an accountant for more information. 

The program fee covers all the in-country costs of the program, including the following items:

• Airport pickup and drop-off
• Welcome and orientation
• Transportation to all program activities
• Accommodation
• All meals
• Educational and cultural activities
• In-country support from the Bolivia site team 24/7
• One COVID-19 test, required for re-entry into the US
• Traveler and health insurance

Additional Program Related Expenses (not included):
• Airfare to and from Bolivia
• Passport fees, if applicable
• Visa fees, $160 for US citizens
• Supplemental meals or snacks
• Personal spending money

A $300 deposit is required to secure your spot on this program.

The remaining program fee is due 15 days before the program start date. 

 

NOTE: This program is a one-week option to join our Helping Hands in Bolivia program, a two-week program with some of Amizade’s Hall of Famers, the Wachs.

ITALY | JUNE 5-11, 2022

Your journey starts in a small village in the Judicaria Valley. This is a relatively marginal district surrounded by major international tourist destinations, and its economy is mostly based on agriculture. Many of its inhabitants commute to nearby towns and main cities for work, and a growing portion of its youngest population moves away in search for better opportunities. As a result, the awareness of the rich natural and cultural heritage of the area is not widespread among the population, which tends to underestimate its social value and its potential as a resource for a sustainable future.

Per person program fee: $2,165

AMIZADE’S CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICIES

If your trip must be cancelled prior to departure, please contact our office as soon as possible. Deposits are nonrefundable. The remainder of your refund will be determined by the date and conditions of your cancellation as follows. Please see the chart below for further explanation.

● Individuals who send a written cancellation notification to the Amizade Office at least 45 calendar days in advance of the program start date will receive a full refund, minus the nonrefundable deposit.
● Individuals who send a written cancellation notification to the Amizade Office at least 30 calendar days in advance of the program start date will receive a 50% refund of the final payment (exclusive of the nonrefundable deposit).
● Individuals who send written cancellation notification to the Amizade Office within 30 calendar days of the program start date will not be guaranteed any refund. Amizade will work with the community partners on if/how much of a refund may be possible.

Amizade will cancel a program guided by Amizade’s Guidelines for Site Travel. If Amizade cancels a program before the program start date, we will issue a full refund for the program fee and the deposit.

PAY YOUR DEPOSIT

To secure your spot, please pay the refundable $300 deposit within two weeks of submitting your application. Payments should be made online or by check payable to Amizade and mailed to our Pittsburgh address: 2211 Lesnett Rd. #12539 Pittsburgh, PA 15241. If paying by check, please include your group program number in the memo line.
