Lais was born in the city of Belem, Brazil, in 1988 and lived there until 2014, when she decided to make Pittsburgh her second home. Lais has a degree in Psychology from the University of the Amazon – UNAMA (2006-2010). She is a specialist in Clinical Psychology – Gestalt Therapy (2011-2013). During college, she had a chance to be an intern in many areas of Psychology: Mental Health, Education and Human Resources. As a psychology professional she has worked in Public service as Psychologist since 2010, promoting social guarantees through the Brazilian public policies; as well as an individual psychotherapist. In Pittsburgh, she’s been volunteering in different projects through NGO’s and Institutions such as Amizade Service-Learning, University of Pittsburgh Medical School (UPMC), and COESA Brazilian Association. She also participated of the Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) by the Mayor’s office of Pittsburgh, a 10-week program that provides knowledge and information about the public system in the city of Pittsburgh. Lais has a particular interest in Arts and Music and she often combines these elements into her activities. She is passionate about projects involving populations who might not otherwise have access to specific services. Currently, she’s also part of the Trilingual Program powered by COESA and supported by the Mayor’s office of Pittsburgh.
