Water, Rights, Education: Supporting Development in Rural Tanzania
Location: Karagwe District, Tanzania
Service: Assist with water harvesting system and water tank installations; work with local youth and local women’s rights organizations
Housing: Dormitory-type housing at the Eden Centre for Appropriate Technology. The Eden Centre accommodations include limited electrical supply, sporadic internet access, temperate showers, and pit latrine toilets. The Eden Centre is safe and secure.

Program Description:
Your travel experience will begin in Kampala, Uganda, where you will receive an orientation to urban African life. From Kampala, you will travel eight hours south, across the border with Tanzania, to the Karagwe District and the small community of Nyakasimbi. Nyakasimbi is located approximately one hour by dirt road past the end of the energy grid, though Amizade cooperated with the Eden Centre to install a wind turbine for basic electricity access there.
With the Eden Centre as your base you’ll support the water access, women’s rights, or education. After , serving in this corner of rural Tanzania, you’ll move north toward the Muburu National Game Park where you’ll view African animals before returning to Kampala for your flight home.
