Program Description:
Never Again: Remembrance, History, and Genocide Prevention challenges students to better understand the events leading up to and surrounding the Holocaust while fully appreciating its implications for the present and future.

Your travel experience will begin in Berlin, Germany, where you’ll witness the historical evidence of the Third Reich, the events that led to Hitler’s rise, and the political structure of National Socialist rule in Germany. You’ll visit deeply challenging and historically important sites including former Jewish neighborhoods, the Holocaust Memorial, and the Jewish History Museum. As part of the course’s ongoing dialogue regarding inclusion and other-ing, you’ll visit the large Turkish community of Berlin.

As you continue learning about the Holocaust with your Professor and local representatives, you will proceed across Germany to Oswieczim, Poland, the site of the infamous Auschwitz Holocaust site. Auschwitz is the site of the greatest number of atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II, where over 1.1 million Jews, Poles, Gypsies, Jehovah Witnesses, homosexuals and others were systematically tortured and murdered. At Auschwitz you will engage in direct service related to Holocaust Remembrance and historic preservation. As you serve to protect the historical legacy of the site, you will support the interests of Holocaust Remembrance and anti-genocide communities. As the course completes, you will be a stronger witness for Remembrance and for contemporary genocide prevention.
