What is the Fair Story Project?
The Fair Story Project – a creation of Amizade Global Service-Learning, might just change the way that study abroad fairs operate at universities across the US. The Fair Story Project is simply a chair, a camera, and Amizade alumni talking about their experiences abroad while students listen and learn what it means to participate in an Amizade program. No flashy materials or wasted paper. The alumni dialogues taken from the Fair Story Project will soon be added to Amizade’s expanding library of alumni testimonials accessible online by anyone, anywhere at anytime.
Our model breaks down the barrier between experienced Amizade alumni and potential participants by sharing their personal stories with students at university or college study abroad fairs. Interested students have the opportunity to act as an interviewer and directly connect and interact with the people who were in their shoes at the same fairs just a few years ago.
Why this project?
Amizade is creating the Fair Story Project because we are more than a study abroad provider; we are a socially responsible non-profit organization that focuses on empowering individuals and communities through worldwide service and learning.
Amizade participants immerse themselves in the culture of our partner communities across the world. Their cultural experiences combined with community-driven service and challenging accredited courses provides our participants with an experience abroad unlike any other program. Amizade is an experience, and the Fair Story Project embraces the importance of sharing that experience in a direct and fair way at study abroad fairs on your campus.
