Program Description: Ghana’s Cape Coast region is bursting with opportunities to learn, to make a difference, and to experience an entirely unique part of the world. You’ll visit the first European Castle in The Tropics, Elmina Castle, as well as other disturbing historic sites essential to the Transatlantic Slave trade. You’ll learn from the museum and park honoring Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president and an influential leader in Pan-Africanism. You’ll visit beaches and rainforest. Throughout your experience in Ghana, you’ll have opportunities to listen to and learn from local people as well as community-based development organizations. Most importantly, you’ll make a difference in cooperation with the rural community of Jukwa.
