Over the past 10 years, Amizade volunteers in Bolivia helped construct the Hogar de Ninos Orphanage and a high school for the local Quechua community. Volunteers are currently assisting physically and mentally-handicapped children through CEOLI, an organization that provides on-going support and educational programming.

Would you consider making a donation to help children at-risk?

In Brazil, Amizade volunteers are working with the Pastoral do Menor, a community center that provides afterschool programming to give children an alternative to life on the streets. Volunteers teach English and other life-skills classes. The examples of Amizade’s impact on children over the years are immeasurable, but are most evident in the experiences of volunteers.

In Jamaica, college students help teach computer skills and direct a summer camp. At the Navajo Nation in Arizona, volunteers provide tutoring in preschool through eighth grade classrooms. In rural Africa, volunteers are constructing an orphanage for children whose parents have died from AIDS, and working with local hospitals and clinics to improve AIDS education among women and children.

Just a few dollars go a long way in supporting Amizade’s work around the world, providing much- needed funds for recruiting volunteers, staffing programs or purchasing bricks, school books, art supplies and latex gloves desperately needed by hospital staff in Africa.
