Be one in a lucky group of volunteers to set out from Pittsburgh for a Montana service project. With stops in Minnesota, South Dakota's Badlands, the Grand Tetons of the Rocky Mountains, and Yellowstone National Park, you'll cover much of the Northern United States. Upon arrival in Gardiner Montana, you'll trek 12 miles into the wilderness to complete a service project with the US Forest Service.

The Best American Road Trip

Out of the Appalachians, Ohio stretches, Indiana and Illinois are mere blinks, then Minnesota's green beckons. Before you know it you catch yourself cruising across the great plains, with sky and land stretching beyond comprehension.
The plains yawn on, seemingly forever, then the Rockies rise - slowly at first - like a growing wall of grey-white on the Horizon. Suddenly, they stand starkly before you, forcing you down, reminding you of your smallness and inspiring you to understand and appreciate awe. It is these Rockies - home to moose, bear, elk and more - into which we will walk. We will serve together, sleep below stars so clear and bright they seem to smack you in the face, and reflect together.
Volunteers will depart on Tuesday, May 27 and return Wednesday, June 11. Two weeks of tent lodging, transportation across the United States, and amazing experiences throughout - all for $600.
