The Association of Clubs (AOC)

The mission of the AOC is “to help communities establish self-reliant organizations linked with others, so that ordinary people can have a much greater part in building the community and the country.”

“The Association of clubs is a thirteen year-old community-based organization organized to develop and secure the implementation of strategies and policies which address the principal social and economic problems facing the community. We network with other development oriented organizations in order to stimulate community action and self-reliance which are demanded by the challenges facing the communities and the country.

The organization is the coming together of eight community-based organizations. These communities are strategically situated around the sugar belt where most persons depend on the sugar industry and tend to fall in the lower socio-economic bracket.”

Fun Facts:
In 2003, US college students collaborated with the AOC to learn video technique and produce a documentary for the community. The result was a 10 minute promotional and fundraising video about the AOC Youth Empowerment Summer Camp called "Changing Attitudes".

The AOC summer camp groups are named Peace, Love, and Unity. When jump-roping competitions get heated, you can hear the shouts of peace, love, and unity ring out.
